Two 34-year-old men, who reportedly were passed-out in a vehicle outside a Crewe motel, ended up being arrested on several drug charges. Both have extensive prior records.
The incident occurred last Friday, August 15th at the Crewe Boutique Inn. Sheriff Robert Jones says that deputies were dispatched at 7:50 a.m. in reference to two unresponsive subjects in a vehicle in the motel parking. Jones said persons on the scene had attempted to awaken the subjects on two occasions with no success.
After the second try didn’t work, they called Nottoway for help.
Jones said that when deputies arrived, the subjects had awakened and checked-in to a room at the establishment.
Jones said a check of the vehicle where they had been sleeping wasn’t registered to either man. Jones said the vehicle’s owner previously had reported its whereabouts unknown.
Jones said the two men were detained as an investigation took place at the motel. The vehicle was searched after a narcotics K-9 ‘hit’ on the vehicle, and Jones said suspected drugs were located inside.
That led to a search warrant being executed at the motel room “with more drugs along with cash and a gun found.”
Jones said that those arrested and taken into custody were:
Kenneth Leroy Jennings, Jr., 34, of Crewe, charged with two counts of Possession with Intent to Manufacture/Sell/Distribute Drugs.
Alexander Shadeed Hurt, 34, of Meherrin, charged with two counts of Possession of Schedule I/II Drugs; Possession of a Firearm with Possessing Schedule I/II Drugs; and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
