District Two Supervisor John Roark made and displayed not one, not two, but three handwritten signs during the Board of Supervisors’ worksession last Thursday night.
He wasn’t being held hostage, and his signs didn’t read, “Rescue Me” or “Help,” but Roark was careful to write the messages and display them during discussion without his “captors”/ colleagues noticing.
Roark can be seen on the Board’s YouTube video, at the 1:07:53 mark, making one of the signs and displaying it several seconds later (1:028:24) to the Board’s video camera. That sign read, “Who is Johnny Walker?”
Roark apparently was making light of the fake Facebook profile that some have suggested could be Roark’s. Roark has publicly denied those accusations — saying he would never hide behind an alias — and says he can’t view the profile, so ‘Johnny Walker’ apparently has blocked Roark on Facebook.
Then at the 1:10:30 mark, Roark can be seen displaying a second handwritten sign without other Supervisors noticing: “Release the Epstein Files.”
County Planner Gregg Zody, who was seated beside Roark at the Board table in the Health Department basement, can be seen chuckling (1:11:04), after Roark showed him one of the signs.
At the 1:34:40 mark — with Emergency Services Coordinator Buddy Hyde joining Supervisors at the table and sitting across from Roark, Roark displays his third sign, “Live, Laugh, Love,” without anyone appearing to notice.
After the worksession is adjourned and with video still rolling (1:56:19), County Administrator Steve Bowen can be seen smiling and approaching Roark, showing Roark a text message Bowen had received on his phone from a viewer during the meeting.
Roark responded with laughter and showed Bowen one or more of the signs that Roark had displayed during the meeting.
The Board’s regular monthly meeting is set for 7:00 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday) in the General District Courtroom.
