The Nottoway Board of Supervisors may request an audit of Nottoway Emergency Squad, which the County is now funding to the tune of about $65,000 per month.
At a Board worksession last Thursday night, County Administrator Steve Bowen said he’s working on an engagement letter that could be used to retain an auditing firm if the Board wishes to do so.
Supervisors Bo Toth and John Roark are members of what will be a new Executive Committee for greater County oversight. As of last week, the six-member committee had not met.
Bowen said one Squad official told him that a County audit would be a “waste of money.” Bowen reported to Supervisors that he told that Squad official that an audit “ultimately is the Board’s decision.”
Supervisor Roark said, “Some information came in today, and it’s very unsettling.”
He did not elaborate.
