In July 2000 — 25 years ago — Kenbridge Mayor Dicky Harris and Kenbridge Chamber of Commerce President Charles Rickers displayed one of 20 large Christmas wreaths that would line the business district that year and for many years afterwards. The $5,000 project was split by the Town and Chamber. Wreath was on display during monthly Chamber meeting at Mildred’s Meals. Harris served as Mayor from 1990-2014 and also was recognized by the General Asssembly in 2017 as being the longest-serving fire chief in the Commonwealth. Rickers who died in April 2023, was an outspoken two-term Lunenburg County Supervisor and led the Chamber for several years.
