Kathleen Hamlett of Blackstone was featured in the Courier-Record in November 1990 — 35 years ago — for her elaborate Christmas decorations, many from the 50 countries and islands she visited over the course of her life. In an interview, she jokingly called her passion for collecting souvenirs a “sickness” and her love of traveling an “addiction.” Mrs. Hamlett was a beloved English teacher at Blackstone High School and later Kenston Forest. She died in 2014 at age 96.
