OPEN YOUR WALLETS

Georg Orwell once said that political language “is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.”

That observation is enough to make one wonder if he foresaw what House Democrats are attempting in the 2026 General Assembly session. For a crowd that’s so concerned about human rights, they’re torturing the English language past the breaking point.

The Democrat Leader said at a press conference on Feb. 19th that adding the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative back to power bills will “lead to lower energy costs.”

The process of putting new fees onto a bill makes them go up — not down.

Democrats also failed to mention billions of dollars in new costs they’re imposing with battery mandates for big utilities.

A 2,000-kWh bill has roughly $44 dollars in charges on it this month directly related to ‘clean’ efforts that generate no new electricity.

Democrats call the same stable of policies they’ve pushed for decades ‘affordability’ — regardless of how much they’re going to cost Virginians.

As Virginians deal with massive power bills from the arctic blast of late January and early February, Democrats are adding billions of dollars to power bills.

Republicans had a plan to suspend those fees until prices come down. Democrats killed it.

Affordability? It’s a distant memory now halfway through the 2026 session.

Now Democrats are trumpeting the possibility of a $3 per household savings on power bills if the legislation they’ve passed, sticking it to data centers, becomes law.

Republicans had a plan to give more car tax relief now and keep the promise made two decades ago. House Democrats punted and passed a “study” bill, which was promptly killed by Senate Democrats.

Democrats did nothing to lower rising costs of car insurance, nor did they bring forward anything to help consumers lower the cost of registering their cars in Virginia.

They ran on affordability. Now they’re coming for your wallet.

“FAIRNESS”

By far the worst example of the ongoing shamble of words is their ballot question regarding the redistricting sham. Why are we amending the Constitution? To ‘restore fairness.’ Even the press has started to notice just how biased that question is.

Republicans had a plan to put a real description of the amendment on the ballot but — just like tax cuts and lower power bills — it was killed by Democrats.

Republicans fought hard for our redistricting commission. We’re going to keep fighting to save it and block this unconstitutional power grab.
