After a 3-0 start, Nottoway High School’s varsity volleyball team suffered two losses last week.
The Lady Cougars were swept on the road in straight sets last Wednesday, Sept. 10th, by Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School in Richmond. Junior Cambria Ashford made six kills, and junior Addison Childress made five assists against the Lady Dragons.
Two nights earlier (Monday) at home, Nottoway lost, 3-2, in a five-settter to King William (14-25, 26-24, 25-22, 21-25, 11-15). Ashford made eight kills, junior Katherine Gravely five, sophomore Lorraine Wilson four. Gravely was 21-of-23 serving with three aces.
Junior Gracen Skinner also served three aces. Childress (14-of-15 serving) made 10 assists, and senior Avery Cliborne (15-of-17) made five. Junior Linae Wilson made four blocks. Junior Willow Austin and Ashford each made four digs.
