The Nottoway Lady Cougars entered this week with a 9-7 varsity softball record and were in solo 3rd place in the James River District with a 5-4 mark.
The Cougars lost at home last Thursday to first place Buckingham, 7-2. Alaina Vaughan (double), Taylor Atkinson, and Anari Smith managed Nottoway’s only hits. Cheyenne Estep and Addison Childress scored the Lady Cougars’ only two runs.
Two days earlier at home, Nottoway rolled past Cumberland, 9-1. Estep struck-out 10 Lady Dukes and went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, and she scored three runs. Childress went 3-for-3 with a double and also scored three runs. Taylor Atkinson went 3-for-4 with four RBI.
