Nottoway High School’s varsity volleyball team swept both of its matches last week and entered this week with a 2-0 record.
The Lady Cougars last Thursday defeated visiting Dinwiddie, 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-21). Sophomore Lorraine Wilson (8 kills, 2 blocks), junior Cambria Ashford (6 kills, 3 blocks), and junior Willow Austin (5 kills, 4 digs), led Nottoway’s offense.
Avery Cliborne, the team’s sole senior, was 10-of-10 serving with 13 assists, and junior Addison Childress made eight assists. Junior Grace Skinner made 6 dogs.
Two nights earlier at home, Nottoway beat Armstrong (25-5, 25-6, 25-8). Childress was 19-of-20 serving with 8 aces. Wilson made 5 kills and served 4 aces, Cliborne made 6 assists, and junior Katherine Gravely served 4 aces. Sophomore Linae Winslow was 7-of-7 serving with an ace. Austin served three aces.
