
Honored By District The James River District named Nottoway High football stand-outs Anton Carter, Jr, Nasir Delaney, and Benjamin Sykes to its First Team All-District roster.
Three Nottoway Cougar football stand-outs received First Team postseason honors from the James River District, and six others were named Second Team All-District. One Coguar was named to both teams.
FIRST TEAM selections include senior RB Anton Carter, Jr., who ran for 2,037 yards on 156 carries and scored 24 TDs. He averaged 226.3 yards per game played and 13.06 yards per carry. He was also named First Team as Linebacker, Kick Returner (75-yard TD), and Punt Returner (37.2-yard average and two TDs).
Sophomore Nasir Delaney was named First Team at Defensive Line and Offensive Line, leading the Cougars with 79 tackles (five tackles for losses), four forced fumbles, and four recoveries.
Junior Defensive Back, Benjamin Sykes, also made First Team All-District. He made four interceptions, had 125 return yards, scored a defensive TD,
1819 and made 67 tackles.
SECOND TEAM honorees from Nottoway include:
Jacob Alvis (junior, Offensive Line): 19 pancake blocks and created lanes for Nottoway’s potent rushing attack.
Benjamin Sykes (junior, Wide Receiver): 12 catches, 175 yards, one TD.
Trent Hayes (junior, Wide Receiver): 4 Catches, 48 Yards, 1 TD.
Esmar Henderson, Jr. (junior, Defensive Line): 42 tackles (19 solo), 5 QB sacks.
Elliot Waite (senior, Linebacker): 77 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 2 recoveries.
Mason Jennings (junior, Linebacker): 56 tackles (18 solo), three sacks.
Ephraim Stokes, Jr. (freshman, Defensive Back): Allowed only two completions all season, 17 pass break-ups, 38 tackles, three interceptions.
