Nottoway Strong!


 

 

Nottoway Cougars Wrestling Club members Gauge Wingfield (left) and Chance Wilborn recently qualified for the 2026 Virginia Wrestling Association’s (VAWA’s) Kids Folkstyle State Championships, to be held in Prince William this coming Saturday, Feb. 28th and Sunday, March 1st.

Gauge, 13, is an 8th grader at Nottoway Middle School and son of Terry Rust and Kris Wingfield of Crewe. He placed 2nd at the Feb. 8th state qualifier, held at Cosby High School in Chesterfield, in the 14U – 80-lb. weight class.

Chance, 12, is a 6th grader at Nottoway Intermediate School and son of Chris & Kristin Wilborn of Crewe. He placed 2nd in the qualifier in the 12U – 74-lb. weight class. Chance is the younger brother of Chase Wilborn — the first Nottoway youth to qualify for the VAWA State Championship. Both young grapplers are coached by NCWC leader Lucas Jackson of Crewe.
