Kenston Forest’s golf team last week captured yet another Virginia Colonial Conference championship — its ninth VCC crown in the past 11 years.
Led by senior Will Johnson’s 5-under-par 67 at the Cardinal Course at Fort Gregg-Adams, the Kavaliers finished 25 strokes ahead of runner-up Blessed Sacrament Huguenot.
Johnson won Medalist honors, and sophomore Kelsey Carter of South Hill shot 81 to finish third.
Johnson and Carter each earned All-Conference honors, and Johnson was named All- Academic as well.
Kenston’s championship team also included Ashton Lafoon of Crewe, MK Hite of Kenbridge, Matthew Mann of Amelia, and Maddie Yancey of Blackstone.
The Kavaliers ended their VCC season with a perfect 28-0 record and overall mark of 29- 1. Every Kenston golfer during the season scored a personal best at least once and posted a score that counted in the Kavaliers’ team score. Only the top four scores are counted in each match. Kenston’s depth was too much for opponents.
Keith Green and Dr. John Allen once again were named VCC Golf Coaches of the Year.
The Kavaliers were scheduled this past Monday (May 13th) to compete in the VISAA Division Three State Golf Tournament at Williamsburg National.
