Blackstone hasnโ€™t had many Black police officers over the years. But one of them is now in his 26th year of service and is the veteran officer on the Townโ€™s roster. Lee F. Janโ€™s Residential occupancy still exceeds limit of 8

Blackstone Town Council has opposed a request by Janโ€™s Residential to have more time to comply with the Townโ€™s zoning ordinance. The assisted living center at 307 North High last year had as many as 12 residents but is capped by Town zoning ordinance at eight. Town ponders Enforcement Officer

Blackstone officials are considering adding a new full-time employee to the payroll โ€” that of a Code Enforcement Officer. Mayor Ben Green shared with officials Jan. 23rd that he and Town Manager Philip Vannoorbeeck have been discussing the need. โ€œIโ€™ve already labeled myself as โ€˜The Enforcement Mayor,โ€™โ€ Green declared to his colleagues. โ€œMy duties are clear. Blackstone Town Council is scheduled to hold a Special Meeting tonight (Wed.) at 7:00 p.m. Among the agenda items is a proposed new 21- page Animal Control Ordinance. I hope it includes public shaming in the Town Square for those who let their dogs do their business on the side of the road without picking it up. Call it a [โ€ฆ]
